In a nutshell, Trippiece can be summarised with two simple points:

  • Social Travel Planning Platform
    • It's a platform that allows users to share their travel plan and plan their trips with like-minded people
  • User Oriented Tours
    • What's special are that the travel tours found on Trippiece focuses more on traveler's initiatives, rather than the kind of tours that agencies would want to sell

" PLAN ORIGINAL TRIPS, SHARE AND MAKING IT HAPPEN "

BELIEF/MOTIVATION

They have beliefs from two different perspective:

  • Company's Perspective: Good Hires happens through Mutual Friend's Recommendations
    • These friend recommendations somewhat guarantees the quality of candidates to an extent
  • User's Perspective: Good Chance of meeting a Good Team through Mutual Friends
    • By joining a company that your mutual friend is in, it increases the likelihood that you would have great chemistry in the team
MEET THE TEAM & FOUNDER

We have not had a chance to entire team personally, yet. However, we would like to give special mentions to these people that you NEED to know during the trip

  • Akiko Naka - CEO of Wantedly
  • Nozomi Umenai - PR of Wantedly (She's the one that had been (very patiently) tolerating all of our crazy request. Amazing lady.
  • Sayo Otsuka - SALES of Wantedly

WHY DID WE CHOOSE WANTEDLY?

There are various reasons but here are the top 3 core ones that triggered us to approach Wantedly:

  • Numerous Mentions on Famous Startup Blogs
    • They now have over 73,000 Users with over 2,200 Clients
  • Competitive Industry
    • It's amazing how they have the ability to grow their user base despite huge competition within the social recruiting industry (e.g. LinekdIn)
  • Female Entrepreneur
    • She form the minority in the IT Industry. I'm sure we can learn a lot from her! Unfortunately, she would not be present during our visit. Nonetheless, we'll try our very best to get as much information from Nozomi & Sayo.

BUSINESS MODEL

We could not find much information on their business model, other than the pricing model on their website. We are pretty sure that Wantedly has more than just this that we could learn more - of which we would be asking during our trip.

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS: LINKEDIN VS WANTEDLY

One of the biggest question that stroked our brains while doing our research is... what's the main difference between LinkedIn and Wantedly?

It's interesting after conducting thorough research.

  • LinkedIn: They are more focused towards the users, creating an online resume, and then approaching companies (found through LinkedIn) to apply for the position.
  • Wantedly: On the other hand, Wantedly is more geared towards users, creating an online resume, and then Wantedly would showcase you jobs that you would be highly be interested in (based on your online resume). In addition, it is also important to note that Wantedly believes in friend's recommendation, which is a huge emphasis on the site (i.e. the 'Support This Company' function)

POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TRIPPIECE

As a whole, Wantedly did an amazing job on the entire concept of a Social Recruiting Platform. It's really hard to pinpoint any flaws in the system, much less offer recommendations. However, here are some that we felt they could consider in their pipeline.

They are broken down into three segments:

  • Increasing Exposure & User Base
  • Increasing Customer Engagement
  • Some New Features!

RECOMMENDATION - INCREASE EXPOSURE & USER BASE

CLOSING THOUGHTS

All in all, we're really looking forward to visiting Wantedly depsite Akiko Naka's absence. Learning how the entire organisation operates with as little as a 10-men team amazes us.

If there are any questions you would like us to raise to Wantedly's team, do let us know. Nozomi would be glad to entertain our questions! Oh well, provided we do not tick her off prior to our trip :)
