Korean Internship

Please refer to this Google spreadsheet for students who express special interested in the internships offered. Priority will be given to the students who express special interested. - Interested students

Process for internship

  • Access the Google Document for internship application process here
  • Asking the organisation for internship
  • Getting a letter of offer from internship
    • Letter should state job title, salary, date of hire, purpose of trip and expenses to be borne
  • Approval from OCS
    • Contact person: Ricky TANG <rickytang@smu.edu.sg>, Senior Associate Director, + 65 6828 0316 (DID)
    • Company may need to propose the internship ON TRAC for Ricky to approve OR Self-Propose is possible too
    • Getting overseas internship insurance (NOT subsidised). This must be done before leaving for TSM if not returning.
  • Applying for Visa
    • Go to the Korea embassy in Singapore to apply with the necessary documents. Address of Consular Section: 47 Scotts Road #16-03, 04, Goldbell Towers, Singapore 228233. (near Newton MRT station) Enquiries hotline: (65) 62561188. Operating Hours for all visa matters (application & collection): 9 AM to 11:30 AM, Mondays to Fridays Only. It takes 4 working days to process your visa. No urgent or express service is available.
    • Visa application form (C-3-1) note the < 90 or > 90 days/ Single or multiple entry fees. For startups, you are only allowed for < 90 days stay in Korea as startups are not given the permission to issue visa issuance. Note that visa application is a must when remuneration comes into place.
      • Certification of enrollment from SMU. SMU Registrar via Oasis
      • One invitation letter from the Korean invitor (faxed/scanned copy) stating job title, salary, date of hire, purpose of trip, expenses to be borne. Letter must include company's letterhead, job title of the invitor, phone number and signature.
      • Certificate for Business Registration (issued within the last 3 months) of the Korean invitor (faxed/scanned copy)
      • Long term pass/Work Pass/NRIC in Singapore &/or One copy of re-entry permit to Singapore (applicable to SPR only)
      • Actual passport with at least 6 months validity.
      • One completed visa application form with ONE piece of colored passport-sized photo
  • Getting accommodation
    • It is best if you can get the Korea company to help you in this
  • Getting funding from IIE
