1.1 Executive Summary

The functions of stock markets have become crucial for companies to raise equity from the public, and for investors to build their capital through these stock markets. The transparency provided by stock markets in the United States allow the management, investors and lenders of listed companies to make comparison of their company with other companies in the same sector or otherwise. The insights gained from such analysis allows them to make informed decisions. The US Stocks Fundamental Data (XBRL), appended with other data sources to provide company name and industry sector, was used to provide such insights.

Ratios relatable to the company management, shareholders and bondholders are selected. With the data processed and chart types confirmed, two dashboards - "Company Overview" and "Company Comparison" was built in Tableau as the visualisations. A use case was demonstrated in the "Results" section on how the dashboards can be easily used to make quick observations on the companies analysed. Future work could include augmenting additional data for stakeholders' use and including other useful financial ratios for visualisation.
