Why Virtual TSM?

What motivates you to join TSM?
I have been deeply fascinated with entrepreneurship from a young age, with my interest in technopreneurship materialising when I started my first internship in late 2018 as a product development intern at TAIGER, a local AI startup. Since then, I have been dabbling in the tech startup scene, having worked at many different startups spanning multiple roles with the goal of accumulating the necessary hard and soft skills required to successfully run a startup myself in the future.

Admittedly, I am not very well travelled. Needless to say, the idea of being able to experience firsthand the pinnacle of technology and innovation (Silicon Valley) piqued my interest. I believe this TSM will be a good avenue to achieve a richer understanding of the factors and intricacies that come together to create a fertile ground for tech startups. Furthermore, I am also quite intrigued by the high-risk tolerance and “willingness to challenge the status quo” mindset of the West and would love to learn more about the daring culture there.

Where would you like to visit virtually?
Silicon Valley, Copenhagen (Denmark), Tel Aviv (Israel)

Starting a business

What types of business interest you?
Broadly speaking, any idea with a strong potential of bringing positive impact to society with a strong prospect of scalability. Platform-based networks.

What plan do you have in starting a business?

  • Currently, I am already rather involved at a local tech startup, whose main product is a mobile application aimed at crowdsourcing data annotation through gamification. I have been playing the role of a product designer and manager since the company's inception in 2019.
  • Over the recent summer break, my friends and I explored the concept of a live commerce ecosystem aimed at empowering SMEs to tap into the fast-growing industry of live commerce. Currently still working on an MVP for this business idea.
  • Hoping to also revive and commercialise one of my past projects - Memory Box, a gamified mobile application focused on helping individuals delay the onset of early-stage dementia. The application managed to clinch 3rd place in NUS’s Medical Grand Challenge 2020. Unfortunately, my team didn’t have the intention to develop the idea after the competition, hence, my intention to give it a second wind.
