Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

I would like to learn more about entrepreneurship in the technology space, and find out more about the culture in Silicon Valley which has enabled many great startups to thrive. I also hope to gain some inspiration through hearing the stories of other successful businesses.

  • Where would you like to visit virtually?

Silicon Valley! It is synonymous with technological innovation and is where some of the world's most well-known IT companies were born and continue to operate.

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

I am interested in platform businesses such as Grab, Shopee and Carousell that have been able to grow rapidly in the region over the past few years. With their user-centric mobile-first applications, these companies have pervaded most of our daily lives, and they are constantly innovating and delivering new features to bring value to society especially during the pandemic.

  • What plan do you have in starting a business?

At the moment I intend to work in some large companies first to gain technical experience and insight into the industry, but I plan to explore starting something in the FinTech space in the future. This is an area with a lot of potential, and I have seen many great ideas from attending past iterations of Singapore Fintech Festival. I am also inspired by Beep Technologies, the successful startup behind the recent vending machines for masks, ART test kits and more, which was founded by 2 of my primary/secondary school friends.

Past Experiences/Projects

  • Software Developer Intern at DBS Bank (2021)
  • Final Year Project with Citibank (2021)
  • SMU-X Projects with LDR Technology (2018 & 2020), PSA Corporation (2020), SingHealth Polyclinics (2021), COMO Group (2021)

Co-curricular Activities

  • Official Photographer - Metamorphosis Camp 2019
  • Member - SMU EYE Investment
  • Member - SMU Whitehat Society
  • Member - SMU Blockchain Club
  • Member - SMU FinTech
  • Member - SMU Business Intelligence & Analytics

What keeps you ticking?

I am motivated by solving real world problems using technology. I have embarked on several self-initiated projects outside of school ranging from websites to chatbots, with some of these solutions reaching several hundred active users. They can be mostly found on my GitHub. My other hobbies include photography and videography - I have covered many events casually (camps, weddings, sports), and also produced a video for Locomole (in an SMU-X mod) which attracted 50K views across YouTube and Facebook.
