Why Virtual TSM?
- What motivates you to join TSM?
Having spent a year interning in an EdTech startup in Silicon Valley, I was fascinated and inspired to join the startup world ever since. During that one year, it was such an eye-opening experience to see the inner workings of a startup. When I heard of an opportunity like TSM, I was thrilled at the idea of being able to relive that experience again. However, I would love to be able to explore other parts of what the city has to offer, such as visiting big tech companies and forging new friendships along the way :)
With a background in International Business from polytechnic and what I have learnt from IS, I believe TSM would be a great opportunity for me to truly embrace what technopreneurship means.
Two years of university life breezed by and I've found some awesome people like Hein, Justin, Shen Jie & Amelia who have all applied for the TSM as well!!
- Where would you like to visit virtually?
I would love to visit Silicon Valley 💻 for its perfect weather and it being the heart of technological innovation. There would be so much to learn there!
I would also love to visit New York City 🗽 because I feel that there is no other city with an energy quite like New York. Being one of the most vibrant places in the world, I get excited just at the thought of being fully immersed in such a diverse city where dreams can come true. A quote that gets me thrilled would be “One’s life and passion may be elsewhere, but New York is where you prove if what you think in theory makes sense in life.” ~ Miuccia Prada
Starting a business
- What types of business interest you?
I'm interested in anything related to startups as I love the thrill of taking a stab at multiple projects at the same time, while working on something I'm truly passionate about. I am particularly interested in the EdTech industry and businesses who are aligned with creating a positive change in the world.
- What plan do you have in starting a business?
In the grand scheme of things, I would love to dive into raising awareness for mental health by coming up with innovative solutions to tackle such a heavily stigmatised field. Currently, I have started a digital marketing agency to help businesses establish branding by building websites and designing graphics for their brand.
Something exciting I'm currently working on would be pivoting our IS216 Web Application Development II project idea (Auxion) - originally an online auction platform made for charitable organisations to organise live bidding sessions in real time, towards a NFT marketplace suited for the Metaverse. What keeps you ticking?
Often spend time thinking of how we can improve things in our daily life with better and intentional design. And sometimes, the best solution is right in front of us, it just requires us to look through a different eye 🤓
