Why TSM Silicon Valley?
What motivates you to join Technopreneurship Study Mission(TSM)?
Since young, my aspiration is to be a technopreneur by leveraging on technology to improve people’s lives. Upon hearing the TSM program, I immediately realized its benefits and was eager to sign up for the program. By joining TSM, it would allow me to get a step closer to my aspiration through gaining first-hand experience with start-up companies. Personally, I have yet to start my own venture due to my lack of knowledge and experience. However, I believe that the program would enable me to learn practical and transferable skills with regards to the management of the startup companies. Furthermore, after going through several internships with local start-up companies, I began to realize that I tend to have a preference over the culture and system of start-up companies. It is a place where people are not afraid to contribute wild ideas, criticize each other over many discussions, and ultimately a place where innovation is the lifeline of the company.
Why pick Silicon Valley?
Silicon Valley is well known as a fertile ground for startups as there are countless of technology startups around the area. By going to Silicon Valley, it would provide me with valuable opportunities to work with start-up companies. Among the companies located in Silicon Valley, there are two particular companies that stand out and align with my future direction, they are mainly, Sky mind and Segment.
Are you willing to undertake an internship?
Yes. If possible, I would like to take up an internship that is related to my personal interests, which consist of analytics and artificial intelligence. However, I am still keen to take up other internship opportunities that are available. I feel that an internship with an overseas start-up company would be a great opportunity to widen my perspective and establish meaningful relationships.
