Why TSM Hong Kong?
- What motivates you to join TSM?
Living a technology-driven country like Singapore, it is common to see technology transitions happening to the entire business ecosystem. While "technology" is a big and overly used term in most scenarios nowadays, I would like to embark on this TSM to deepen my understanding of how businesses embed technology in their systems efficiently. Furthermore, such valuable experiences interest me as it allows me to gain knowledge beyond a controlled classroom environment and expose me to more critical thinking.
- Why pick Hong Kong?
In an environment of thriving technological startups, Hong Kong is dubbed as one of the most fast-paced countries. Coupled with its government plans to further its lead in technology advancement through a collaboration with Shenzhen, it will be interesting to witness its current technology environment and how it is able to support its rapid growth. Moving forward, such knowledge may also be applicable and transferable to a country with similar traits like Singapore.
Starting a business
- What types of business interest you?
I am interested in businesses that can provide offerings to help improve the level of convenience for consumers. It is also interesting to see how businesses act in a customer-centric way to satisfy different demands beyond product (e.g. impact on society).
- What plan do you have in starting a business?
I plan to learn as much as possible from the experiences of startups and corporations before attempting to start a business. Although I do not have a concrete business product in mind at the moment, I envision for a business that can seamlessly provide a convenient solution to fill in gaps for an existing problem.
Past Experiences
- Carouseller
My past entrepreneurial experience as a Carouseller helped me understand the pace of changing customers' needs and how substitutable many services can be in today's era. With this knowledge, I am eager to learn how existing businesses continously maintain their differentiating factor to meet customers' needs.
- DHL Express
Last summer, I have had the opportunity to intern at DHL Express's sales development & e-commerce department. During then, I was able to personally experience how a large corporation like DHL constantly innovate with technology advancement. Furthermore, I was fortunate to be tasked with an international team to consolidate all sales & marketing information onto a content hub for team members' usage.
Ultimately, I believe my experiences will allow me to contribute to an insightful discussion during the TSM classes.
