Week 1

Today was our first TSM class. As we all know, this module is about the technopreneurship (technology + entrepreneurship). Being someone who is always interested in entrepreneurship and aspire to become an entrepreneur, I am looking forward to the weeks ahead and trip to learn about the start up scene in Korea-Seoul and Japan-Tokyo. Over the years, the Singapore government has been supporting young start-ups. However, in my opinion, I think the best way to learn is to travel to another country that has a different culture from what you experienced.

Week 2

For this week's class, we learnt in detail what is technopreneurship all about. When we talk about entrepreneurs, it is very important to take note of one's personality traits. For instance, someone needs to be a risk-taker to set up his/her own business. The answer is a yes. In this semester, I took a module called corporate creativity. I had to research on people who came up with successful and creative ideas that are capable to develop a product or come up with a service and launch it in the market. One thing I have observed is that all of them are risk-takers, they are willing to try and not afraid of failure. Just like becoming an entrepreneur, you will never know if your business idea will be successful unless you try it out on your own. Previously, I went for an entrepreneurship talk and I remembered someone mentioned this clearly- 'It is alright to fail'. He has failed thrice before. However, he did not give up but still continue to try and come up with other business ideas and go ahead with it. For the upcoming TSM trip, I am curious to find out more about the characteristics of the founders and what motivated them or inspired them to come up with such an idea and become an entrepreneur.

Week 12

Each individual team is tasked to liaise with one or two companies for either Korea or Japan. My team- Clarissa and I managed to confirm our company visits to Smart Education and Cybernoids in Tokyo. Their business concepts are really interesting, which explains why we chose the two companies. For more information on the companies, please visit our team page- OISHI!

This is the presentation week where each team will present the company research to the class to give an overview of the organisation background and reasons as to why they chose to visit the company. After the sharing, I am really excited for the trip ahead as there are just so much to learn from these organisations with interesting business model and concept.

Of course, we are very lucky to have BnbHero to join us for the presentations today. Basically, this organisation developed a platform to make the planning for trips in Korea a lot easier from accommodation to activities to do in Korea.

Pre-Trip Briefing

Today, the founders from listr.fm came down to SMU to give us a short introduction of their application. After which, we got down to other serious work from reviewing the itinerary, wrapping of gifts to other miscellaneous admin work.

Everything has been planned for. I am ready for TSM 2014 trip. Anyone as excited as I am?
