Platform

Small Town Heroes has created a platform which facilitates the development of second screen applications. This platform is called Airshow. It is connected to a TV studio and using this platform, they can visualize real-time data while the show is on. Using this technique the audience can play along with the TV show or race against each other or compare their expenses with the rest of the people watching the show.

Using the platform, the TV studios can monitor the real-time data such as surveys, tweets, photos and also visualize this data. Any screen in the studio can be controlled using this platform. In the case of second-screens, they can annotate the shows and the shows can be triggered automatically. The second screens are immediately updated as soon as an event is triggered. To close the feedback loop of interactive television, the data collected by the second screens is sent back to the TV studios whereby they can process the data.
