Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

TSM provides a platform for me to experience technopreneurship at the heart of one of the most bustling tech countries in the world (Japan). Back in 2022, I co-founded a technology startup with a few of my friends, with the aim of promoting investments in vertical farming through a gamified Web2.5 decentralized finance platform. With it being my very first entrepreneurship experience registered under the SMU-BIG Incubator programme, I was introduced to the various challenges of developing a technology startup from scratch. While we decided to close down the startup earlier this year due to various reasons, I am still eager to continue improving and acquiring new knowledge on the workings of building a successful startup from experts in Japan. In particular, with the vibrant startup ecosystem in Japan, coupled with its advances into cutting-edge technologies in recent years, I believe that budding entrepreneurs like myself have much to learn from the entrepreneurs in Japan. On top of that, I am also excited to learn more about the different tech companies and the culture in Japan.

  • Where would you like to visit?

Tokyo: Softbank, SEGA, Paidy, BitFlyer

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

I am enthusiastic about businesses in the blockchain gaming industry as I believe blockchain has the potential to revolutionize the traditional gaming experience through the purchase of in-game assets. Seeing how these 2 fields have impacted our lives remarkably and the gradual shift of the gaming dynamic into innovative models like Web3 play-to-earn games, I am excited about the future and would love to see how revolutionary and creative individuals can create new disrupters in the tech ecosystem. With the largest Japanese gaming companies introducing blockchain into their virtual worlds recently, I believe that immersing myself in the Japanese start-up ecosystem through this TSM experience would be highly enriching and fascinating.

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

Building on the lessons learnt from my recent startup venture, I hope to start a gamified Web3 startup with like-minded peers to promote responsible investments that can create immense social impact on our lives.
