Why TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

The ability to visit tech startups overseas will be an amazing opportunity to learn from like-minded individuals and entrepreneurs from around the world. I will be able to have the chance to meet people with varying perspectives, bounce ideas off one another, and to learn from each other. It will also expose me to the wide assortment of technologies and trends out there, allowing me to stay abreast with the latest developments and ideas in the tech industry, and to gain valuable insights into how technology is being used to solve the varying problems out there. This would further encourage me to think outside of the box, to come up with new ideas and solutions for the projects and problems back home in Singapore.

Visiting these vibrant overseas startups in Japan will also be an opportunity to immerse myself in the different cultures out there, being able to gain a broader perspective and understanding of the global markets and cross-cultural working styles. Lastly, it will allow me to step outside of my comfort zone as well, to adapt to new situations and forge lasting and meaningful relationships with the people I interact with. Additionally, with my various leadership and planning experiences thus far, coupled with my avid passion for travelling, I strongly believe that I will be able to contribute meaningfully to the planning of the study trip as well.

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

Businesses that are able to change and improve the day-to-day quality of lives of everyone. Businesses that are people-centric and leave a personal touch on their customers.

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

Personally, I have always tried to brainstorm business ideas related to my hobbies and interests. An area which I feel is lacking in the fitness/gym industry would be the availability, affordability and accessibility of healthy and transparent food products/stores. In an ideal world, these products/stores would be located close to gyms and sports facilities such as stadiums so that everyone (especially the target audience) will be able to access and benefit from them easily. Also, I understand that setting these products at a low price would be the main challenge faced, through the interactions and bouncing of ideas I had thus far with people of similar interests.
