Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

This semester's TSM seems very interesting to me as it will be a mission trip to Tokyo. Tokyo, or Japan in general, is renowned for its unique blend of traditional and modern culture, and also known for being a relatively conservative society. Thus I am curious to find out how startups are growing in what may seem like an unconducive environment for them. I believe that engaging with the japanese firms will allow me to better understand their attitudes and values towards entrepreneurship, which could be different from those in Singapore. Lastly, I'm excited to learn about the latest technological advancements and trends in Tokyo, a city that is widely known for being a tech hub in Asia. By doing so, I hope to broaden my perspectives as an IS student and learn how I can apply these learnings back in Singapore.

  • Where would you like to visit?

Attractions: Ghibli Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Imperial Palace
Companies: Sony, Yamaha, Nanameue

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

Businesses that contribute to improving quality of life, such as healthcare, transportation and agriculture spark my interest. Honestly, any business/firm that has managed to achieve the seemingly impossible is also interesting to me as I want to know their story and how they managed to survive and thrive.

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

At this time, I do not have any plans to start a business as I feel that I may lack the necessary skills and innovative ideas. However, I am eager to learn more about entrepreneurship and innovation through this Technopreneurship mission. By doing so, I hope to discover something that I am passionate about and which could potentially lead to starting a startup in the future.
