Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

My previous internship at CARRO allowed me to experience and feel the startup culture firsthand. Having further conversations with Kelvin, one of the co-founders of CARRO, further sparked my interest in technopreneurship. Furthermore, as a double degree student pursuing Computer Science and Business Management, I have always wanted to learn about the interesting use-cases and applications of technology to help solve problems/provide business opportunities in niche markets, while also getting to gain a better appreciation of the cross-disciplinary intersection between business and technology.

  • Where would you like to visit?

Tokyo: Softbank, SEGA, Paidy, BitFlyer

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

I am personally more interested in business that revolve around finance and technology, with specific interests in the payments sector, as I believe that the technology surrounding payments is still constantly evolving, and there is still a lot of room for expansion and developing new products. I am also interested in the sports and gaming industry as well, being an avid gamer myself.

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

Although I do not have any concrete plans to launch a business yet in the short term, I have a few potential ideas and I hope that through TSM, I can acquire the skill sets needed to assist me to open my own business.

Personally, I am interested in starting a business in the gaming industry, as I believe that there is a potential market to tap on in the Southeast Asian markets. A potential idea I considered was to create an educational gaming-based payments platform where users can get to manage and track their expenses, while also learning about the category of spenders that they belong to. At the same time, users can choose to create their own personalised plans based on their spending habits, and if they successfully manage to achieve their targets each month, they get to earn tokens/badges, which can be used to exchange for real money or shopping vouchers to encourage healthy spending habits.
