Why Virtual TSM?
- What motivates you to join TSM?
- I strongly believe that being a part of TSM will help me to grow my entrepreneurial mindset - to cultivate the ability to look at problems through different lenses and tackle issues from different angles. I have always wanted to visit well-established tech companies such as those in FAANG, or rather MANGA (Since Meta, Apple, Netflix, Google, Amazon..a little cold joke here sorry). I make it a point to intern specifically at start-ups to understand the true pain points of running one.
- As a bright eyed freshman, I was given the privilege to have interned at a fresh startup in Thailand through SMU’s Global Innovation Immersion (GII) Programme. Despite it being a remote internship, the lessons I have learnt through that opportunity did not fall short in any way. In fact, my biggest takeaway from that internship was learning how to communicate with clarity as I understood just how important it is to ensure that people understand the message you are trying to convey. The GII internship was my first leap at experiencing what SMU has to offer and it left me wanting for more. Given this opportunity, I am certain that this study mission will be an unforgettable experience and the highlight of my university life here at SMU.
- Overall, I am excited for this study mission as I firmly believe it will make me a better entrepreneur and cannot wait to connect with like-minded individuals!
- Where would you like to visit virtually?
Silicon Valley, New York and Beijing are the top 3 places I would love to visit. These 3 places have very strong startup ecosystems and it would be such a rewarding experience to interact and learn from successful startups there. I'm very excited about visiting Facebook/Meta with the recent rebranding to reflect the metaverse - a shared online 3D virtual space which I believe is the future of the internet.
Starting a business
- What types of business interest you?
- Businesses that are pursuing and pushing the boundaries of VR/AR (e.g. Meta)
- Businesses that use data to solve complicated problems and optimize operations (e.g. Palantir)
- Businesses that use Artificial Intelligence to develop immunotherapies for cancer and other diseases (e.g. Evaxion Biotech)
- What plan do you have in starting a business?
- Currently working with Justin on developing a Web3 platform that allows users to trade NFTs across multiple marketplaces and chains using one single dashboard.
