Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

I want to learn more about the tech startup landscape in Korea as I believe it is important to know about startup landscapes and culture in other countries as the world becomes more globalized. I also hope to network with people in the tech startup ecosystem in Korea I hope could lead to cross-border collaborations involving communities from both Singapore and Korea. I am also attracted by the experiential learning as I find travelling around and engaging in hands-on, interactive activities an interesting and effective way to learn.

  • Where would you like to visit?

Companies: Dot Inc., Lunit, SK Telecom, Standigm, Naver, Kakao
Places: Songdo
Universities: KAIST, SNU to see how university life is in a different country and to observe the industry-academia collaborations in other countries

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

I am interested in businesses that engage in employing tech for social good, specifically assistive technologies that improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. I am interested in how these businesses serve the community while also ensuring their business model is financially sustainable. While my interest may seem quite specific, I am interested in exploring the landscape of technopreneurship for social good in Seoul and in doing so, hopefully gain a wider perspective of how tech can be used for social good!

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

Currently, I hope to explore the ecosystem of technology for social good more thoroughly before starting a business. I plan to start with identifying gaps in provision of products and services to underserved communities. I believe that gaining technopreneurship skills and industry experience concurrently would be helpful in order to understand the current landscape better and know what is and isn't possible. I also plan to expand my network in this area so that I have relevant connections that may prove useful when starting a business.
