Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

With the recent craze in creating a start-up among my peers, it has sparked my interests in this field as well, knowing that I am passionate about solving problems as well as having sufficient foundational knowledge in the technological side of things. Coupled with the experience in the startups that I've worked in previously, I've been enlightened by the journey of creating one, from building a team from scratch to formulating a solution. Ten years ago, it used to cost a lot to get started in terms of acquiring either software or hardware. However, in a globalised world today, various start-up methodologies like lean startup allows us to tap on open-sourced software and access to offshore manufacturing to develop an MVP to test our hypotheses. TSM provides me with an opportunity to piece together the puzzle, in hopes of working towards the creation of a startup, through a new chapter of exploration in one of the world's most technologically advanced and digitally connected countries - Korea.

  • Where would you like to visit?

In particular, I'm interested in visiting cities in Seoul like Gangnam, often known as the status symbol of Korea, where it's filled with retail opportunities, ranging from department stores to underground shopping centres and malls. Additionally, a trip to Pangyo Techno Valley will allow me to diversify my perspectives on the startup scene in Korea.

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

I'm interested in businesses that develop products with the aim of driving tech for good. I am often amazed by how much impact an application with a few lines of code can make. A product that has completely revolutionized our way of living will be one of the underrated products developed by GovTech - ParkingSG. It has drastically improved our quality of life, offering convenience to drivers to manage their parking sessions as well as workers of the public cleaning sector who often have to clean up the wastage brought by paper coupons. Inspired by these products, I'm constantly trying to ideate methodologies to digitalize the ways we do things, in hope of driving a movement for tech for good.

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

I aim to start a digital business in the software industry, mainly sustaining off Software as a Service (SaaS) products, focused on leveraging technology to improve our lives.
