Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

I believe TSM will help to ignite the entrepreneurship in me, to kickstart my preparation to start on something I have always been interested in, particularly, to help those in need. Having been in the largely manual optical/healthcare industry for the past 5 years, lots of ideas have been coming to me on-the-job, but did not have the resources and courage to start on any of them as I was always afraid of failure. With TSM's exposure, I hope to be able to network with individuals who are on the same page, so that we can motivate one another and and help each other when in need. Korea has been ranked as the most innovative economy by Bloomberg, along with Silicon Valley in the US and China. This positioned Korea as most ideal place to nurture Technopreneurship, at the same time, offering lots of opportunities for growth.

I also want to have an opportunity to practice my Korean speaking skills after learning to speak from my Korean friends.

  • Where would you like to visit?

Seoul: Samsung, Kakao, Exosystems, SNU, KAIST

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

I have been interested in starting businesses for improving people's quality of lives using tech, for example:
- Develop a software to allow individuals to find out if they need medical help based on their symptoms based on AI - an improvement on the current tele-medicine system, especially targeted at those residing in rural areas / places where transport is inconvenient
- Develop an enterprise solution specially for private hospital's usage, as the administration process of this particular hospital I worked in can take up to 2 hours just to register patients to get hospitalized - this 2 hours can be better spent to focus more manpower on caring for patients instead
- Develop an app to allow people to store their medical records all at a single place personally, and set reminders to schedule or go for their medical checkups - this can be in partnership with SingHealth/National Healthcare Group

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

I have found a few friends who are interested in developing the third idea above, but we are still in the midst of researching and looking for resources. Due to time constraints, we project to start proper only after graduation as we would like to focus on our studies during term time.
