Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

Since I was a young boy, I've been fascinated by technology and its ability to improve our lives. I've been pursuing an IT track since my diploma and now at SMU, where I'm furthering my education in this field with the hopes of one day using technology to improve our quality of life. TSM would undoubtedly provide me the opportunity to observe how high-tech start-ups around the world solve a local/global challenge. Grab and Sea Money, on the other hand, are two good instances of current start-up solutions in Southeast Asia where we could experience first-hand how their technology was used to solve traditional problems. Although the internet and globalization allow us to learn about start-ups and innovative solutions all around the country, nothing beats experiencing them first-hand.

  • Where would you like to visit?

US-Silicon Valley, China-Shen Zhen, Japan-Tokyo and Korean-Seoul

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

As a tech enthusiast with a finance background, I am interested in the ever-growing trend of robo-advisors. Singapore’s Endowus and Syfe robo-advisors are a good example of the kind of business that I am interested in.

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

I aim to start a small robo-advisor trading fund within the finance and tech industry. I have created multiple algorithm trading bot that currently only rely on price and technical indicators to trade that was able to bring in 10-20% capital growth per month prior to the recent market correction caused by the supply chain issues and covid. I have recently completed an SMU-X module where I created a programme that is able to use sentimental data from social media platforms like twitter and discord to predict the underlying derivative price to an accuracy of 80%-90% ( shorturl.at/jmxJW ). I hope to apply what I have learned during my SMU-X project into my main algorithm and gain a very competitive edge against the current solutions in the market, which currently only provides 0-10% per annum (according to my personal historical record).
