Why TSM?
- What motivates you to join TSM?
I am curious about what are the qualities that make up a good tech start-up, and the steps to make a tech start-up successful. Joining TSM gives me the opportunity to understand the thought process and decisions made by entrepreneurs, deep dive into the start-up landscape (with an added global perspective and exposure) and learn how they used technology to solve pressing issues.
I believe the experience would be fulfilling as I can connect with like-minded individuals during the course!
- Where do you NOT want to travel for TSM?
Nowhere in particular. I like to experience the cultures of different countries!
Starting a business
- What types of business interest you?
I am interested in businesses that focuses on harnessing social good, such as making use of technology to bring the community together and solve problems. Examples of such start-ups include Outside, which matches people with tasks that needs to be done, and Bantu, which simplifies volunteer recruitment and management, helping non-profit organisations to streamline their operations.
I am also attracted to businesses that help make our lives easier. For example, ShopBack in the ecommerce industry, which helps consumers to save money in the form of cashback from online purchases and at the same time drive traffic and targeted marketing for merchants!
- What plan do you have in starting a business?
I plan to start my own business if I manage to think of an idea that has market potential and can find like-minded folks who are interested. I would like to explore ideas that have a social impact and incorporates technology. But I do have some ideas for future side-hustle, such as making my own handicraft and selling it on Carousell/ Instagram!
Past Experiences (optional)
I have interned at Augmentus as a digital marketing intern (blog), which is a cool no-code robotic platform start-up that helps businesses automate their processes easily, even with no programming skills!
I have also participated in hackathons to gain experience and conceptualise ideas.
