Why TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

From my experience in how IT is used in companies in Singapore, I began to slowly understand how companies are able to generate value and drive long-term goals with new technology. Culture can greatly change how technology is used in the country and what kind of IT services will be delivered to customers. An example of this is how microfinancing applications are prevalent in rural countries such as the Philippines or India, as there are many farmers that need microloans to buy equipment. This trend is less prevalent Singapore and is mostly used for different reasons, such as opening a small bakery, etc. I am curious and would love to learn more and understand what kind of technologies are able to drive revenue in other countries and how this is changed because of culture. Additionally, it may be hard for newer businesses to scale as they have to make conservative moves if their sales are stagnant during this period. That is also why I would like to understand what companies in other countries are doing, and how they are able to retain customers and drive revenue in this difficult time.

  • Where do you NOT want to travel for TSM?

Any country in the world, each has their own culture and behaviour.

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?
  • Technology Companies - To understand how IT is used in that country, and how they are able to generate value for the needs of the specific country
  • Consultancy firms - To understand how technology is used in that country, and how they are able to help companies scale during these difficult times. Additionally, understand if they can use any tools or technology(e.g Tableau, salesforce, or in-house created tools) to drive sales and operations in their B2B customers.
  • What plan do you have in starting a business?

I think it's a difficult time to start a business currently, given that it is difficult to establish a physical workspace with all the restrictions. I do not plan to start a businesses any time soon. However, with a couple more years of experience I would like to move into analytical consulting for small to mid tier companies that have yet to expand their understanding of analytics and utilize current tools to monitor and optmize their businesses.

Past Experiences (optional)

  • List your startup experiences

Currently none with startups, but would love to learn more!

What keeps you ticking?

  • Say something about you

I'd like to meet new people and learn more about their views on the IT landscape. It's always great to hear new ideas and understand what new services will develop in the coming years! I hope analytics and data science will be easily intergratable into most businesses in the coming years.
