Why Virtual TSM? 💻

* What motivates you to join TSM?
TSM is a unique module that brings learning outside of classroom. I was drawn to TSM for having the opportunity to travel abroad, hands-on entrepreneurship and networking with founders in many industries. Though now virtual, I am confident the learning outcomes would still be fulfilling and I might even interact with more founders globally! TSM is a great platform to learn entrepreneurship beyond Singapore and I am motivated to meet like-minded peers.

* Where would you like to visit virtually?
US, Israel, China, Indonesia, India

Starting a business 🚀

* What types of business interest you?
Fintech
Coming from a finance background, I am interested in fintech and would like to integrate my finance knowledge with my technical expertise. I see a lot of developments in Fintech such as detecting frauds, facilitating payments and it represented a lot of opportunities in second/third tier cities. I am particularly curious how we can innovate Fintech to serve the unbanked and structuring credit microloans to aspiring startups. I aspire to be an entrepreneur in the fintech industry.

Education
I see great potential in this industry as there are increasingly more classes and bootcamps ranging from drone flying, VR to coding in Singapore. Enrichment classes aggregator sites are also popular in Singapore following the trend. I believe when as a country becomes more developed, the people are more willing to take up these classes to upskill and develop competencies. I expect big opportunities in this industry especially in developing economies like China, India and Indonesia.

* What plan do you have in starting a business? (list existing business)
I had an idea of creating a social travel itinerary platform where users can read up on travel articles, research on places of interests and looking at itineraries from famous influencers/thought leaders. I believe the first thing a lot of backpackers like myself do when planning a trip is to ask friends for their itineraries. Also, I believe backpackers face the complexities of creating itineraries when traveling in groups where you have to consider everyone's preference. Therefore, my friend and I pitched the idea weWander(slide deck) - a social travel itinerary platform that allows you to build on customised itineraries in SMU PAK Challenge 2018. We were in the top 11 among the 100+ teams. I enjoyed the process of creating business proposals and pitching and would love to collaborate with a team in executing this vision.

Being entrepreneurial, I do freelance piano tutoring to kids and adults where I customise their learning curriculum based on their music preferences and age. 🎹

Past Experiences💼

I have experience and proven applied practice to various technologies through internships and projects. Also, I have the soft skills - interpersonal skills to communicate and pitch ideas. I believe I have these transferable skillsets to maximise my learning in TSM.
