Why Virtual TSM?
- What motivates you to join TSM?
As a penultimate year IS student with a second major in OBHR, I have a good balance of business knowledge and technical expertise. Compared to other study missions, this mod offers a unique perspective for tech enthusiasts and beginner entrepreneurs (like me) to broaden our horizons, to discover new things, thus help the like-minded individuals grow together. Although we will not be able to travel physically due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this virtual TSM actually provides us with even more opportunities to visit the places that we could not afford.
- Where would you like to visit virtually?
Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China
The Greater Bay Area is an ambitious initiative combining the strengths of nine cities in Guangdong province and two Special Administrative Regions, Hong Kong and Macau. It has all the elements required to develop into an international innovation and technology hub. The area also has many leading multinational technology companies (e.g. Tencent) and educational institutions (e.g. HKU, Tsinghua SIGS) for us to explore.
Starting a business
- What types of business interest you?
Businesses that use Big Data and Analytics
I find it crazily rewarding and enjoyable to discover useful information from piles of data and provide tangible solutions. And I believe that using and understanding big data properly is a crucial competitive advantage for many successful businesses.
- What plan do you have in starting a business? (list existing business)
As an accredited translator, I started my own company Johnan & Co that aims to provide professional high-quality translation services to my clients. Moving forward, the company is also looking to leverage Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and other technologies to bring tailored translation solutions to for our customers at scale.
