My Entrepreneurial Dream

Since Secondary 3, I always wanted to be the next The Body Shop as I truly believe in enriching instead of exploiting. Apart from producing natural products which I believe are better for the skin, I fully support their values of supporting community fair trade, being against animal testing, defending human rights, helping to activate self esteem in oneself and protecting the planet. Although The Body Shop does need a brand refresh as they are currently stuck in time, I believe in the good nature of the brand and hopefully one day can help rebrand the brand. If not, I hope to be able to start a similar business and redesign retail with tech to target the new generation of Gen Zs, which are much more tech-savvy. Acting on this dream, I have been actively understanding and seeking experiences in brand management and customer experience. I love where I am at currently (Unilever) because they own many brands with strong purposes and I strongly believe in their Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, their blueprint for sustainable growth.

Why NYC TSM?

What motivates you to join TSM?

Being part of The Mentoring Circle has taught me how powerful peer mentorship is and I really hope to learn from the people I get to go on the trip with if I potentially get in! I strongly believe that learning never stops and as a business student, I rarely get the opportunity to interact with my peers in Information Systems. I hope that through this trip, I will be able to achieve something collectively with my team to drive impact for the client.

Why pick NYC then?

I've never been to NYC but I do know that its the next Silicon Valley and being there will allow us to meet with many technopreneurs and possibly gain insights from them that you can't get from googling or testing out concepts yourself. Mentorship is so valuable in today's day and age and I believe there is so much to learn from budding tech companies up to big tech MNCs. Also, not going to lie but NYC is pretty cool.

What keeps me ticking?

To be very honest, people. I believe in the good of every human and that together we can build a better world if we choose to. As such, I always jump at opportunities that can empower humans to take action on causes that will benefit themselves, others and the planet. I want to use tech to create positive impact to this world as I believe that's the most effective way to do so nowadays :)
