Why TSM Hongkong?

- What motivates you to join TSM

Recently my friend and I won SG Nation 100 hackathon and we decided to continue developing the idea to reduce food wastage by saving food. We name ourselves, Makan Rescue. In this light, i believe joining TSM will allow me to learn more about technopreneurship and hopefully will benefit the startup that we are currently developing. We are only 1 month old and there are many things for us to learn and pick up. Having this golden opportunity will definitely be an eye opener for me and through this experience, i hope i can put in more value in my startup.

- Why pick hong Kong

Currently i am learning International Business and Hong Kong is a place that i understand to be really good place to explore if we want to venture into the country. Having a first hand experience together with the school is better, especially since its a guided tour to the tech scene. If there is opportunity and if the circumstances is on our side, Hong Kong can be our potential country to expand.

- Ideal role in the trip

I am really keen to be the photographer in the team. I picked up photography recently and invested some cash in buying my first camera and prime lens. I am currently shooting on OMD mark 2 with 25mm prime lens. You can check out my photography instagram: @askmefotog

Starting a business

- What type of business interests you

I am currently doing social enterprise. Makan Rescue aims to save money by saving food. 810K Tonnes of food waste are recorded every year in Singapore. 1 landfill every 7 years have to be put aside to store our waste. This problem is becoming chronic and Singapore is trying to achieve a zero-waste nation and business are also becoming more aware of this. Therefore, i have a strong feel to use technology to allow user to post available food surplus on our app and for users to rescue the food at huge discount!

>Past experience

- PwC (Summer intern 2018) Interned in PwC in digital tax allowed me to understand the nature of MNC. It teaches me how to automate tax by using the software called Alteryx.

- FluidMojo (Summer intern 2017) Interned in a tech start up as Sales Engineer. Being in someone else's startup was my very first experience working in the line of start up. The responsibility given to makes me feel the sense of owner ship and i feel more needed in the company. Doing Sales means i need to meet prospective clients to share more about our company's bespoke digital solution. I feel that PMSB mod was put to good use when i am interning in this company.

What keeps you ticking?

I like to make a difference in people's life. Therefore, seeing them smile and laugh makes me feel so contented. That's why, on my free time, i do hosting and also training/coaching for adam khoo learning technology. Making a difference one at a time, to make this world a better place for you and me.
