Why TSM HongKong?

  • What motivates me to join TSM?

My main motivation of joining this TSM is to experience first hand the business culture in other countries. Although Singapore is a great city, it is important to put myself out there in order to further enhance my general knowledge.

As an entrepreneur, this trip will enable me to obtain fresh perspectives and interesting ideas by allowing me to think outside of the box. It is also important for me to learn and gain insights from people who have been down this path to understand what is required of me to continue pursuing an entrepreneurial path.

As a student, this will be a great experience for me to get out of my comfort zone to meet new people and gain current insights related to my field of study and future career that I wish to pursue. Going on this TSM will undoubtedly enable me to strengthen my technical knowledge by observing and learning about new technologies and how technology has advanced.

Additionally, I've also heard great things from my peers who have joined previous TSMs and would hence love to experience it for myself.

  • Why pick Hong Kong?

Similar to Singapore, Hong Kong is one of the top countries regionally to conduct business in, and is globally, one of the most ideal places to register a business. The country welcomes business owners and entrepreneurs with their business-friendly regulations. As a friendly yet strong competitors, it would be interesting to compare how Singapore and Hong Kong conduct business in their own ways while achieving economic success.

Although Hong Kong is off to a slow start, as compared to Singapore, in terms of technological development, it has been rapidly gaining traction over recent years and I feel that this is the best time for us to observe and learn from.

Last but not least, DIM SUM, of course! ♡

  • Ideal role in the trip

I generally love planning for things, be it my personal timetable, events or trips. Hence I would love taking on the role as the itinerary planner. However, I don't mind trying out other new roles, might be interesting!

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

I tend to keep a open mind on how technology as a business can help people in many ways, hence i don't narrow myself to a particular type of business that I am interested in. Having done my internship at Taiger, I am currently intrigued by the amazing AI and ML technologies out there. However, although there are many great technologies out there in the market, not many are created with the aim of solving major social or global issues. I feel that it'd be great if more products are not just with profits in mind, but also helping people who really need it. This might be something that I would consider pursuing in the future.

  • What plan do you have in starting a business? (list existing business)

Favore: Visit our page
I've started a small business with 2 other friends experience what is it like to own a business in Singapore. Favore was founded last year in 2017 as a virtual personal assistant to assist our clients in daily tasks that are tedious and mundane. We are a team of 3, where 2 of my partners are in charge of marketing and operations, while I am in charge building the technology required to get the business up and running.

What keeps me ticking?

I like to challenge myself by solving new, interesting and complex problems. This is one main reason why I switched from a Banking and Finance diploma to pursuing a Information System degree, and have never regretted my decision thus far. Additionally, I think what keeps me going is my drive and thirst to improve constantly and continuously, to be a better version of who I was in the past.
