Subsidy: 70% support from SPRING covers airfare, meals, accommodation and local transport. F&E or cultural activities are not covered (IIE approved only after interview)
Pre-requisite: None. However priority will be given to:
(a) from the ABT-Technopreneurship track,
(b) from LKCSB entrepreneurship track,
(c) with prior start-up experience,
(d) are currently starting a technology based company.

  • Students who are unable to make it on the travel dates are advised not to take this module.
  • Students in their first or final year/term are not encouraged to take this module.
  • Paying for your own trip without subsidy: You are not subject to the terms at the subsidy below. Please inform facilitator for registration. Cost for the entire trip is roughly $3,300 for Single room $2,500 for sharing a Double room (not including personal expenses).
  • Subsidy: Starting 2016, IIE will interview and must approve TSM students who wants to get subsidy. Subsidy is for double room only
    • Priority and subsidy will be given to the following students who show evidence that they are entrepreneurially inclined (see prerequisite). Preference to students willing to undertake an internship at some of the start-up companies
    • If an internship opportunity has been secured with a particular student who have expressed an interest in the company but subsequently decide not to take it up, he/she will have to repay the subsidy given during the TSM.
    • Students will be asked to sign an indemnity form and a declaration with acknowledge to repay subsidy if internship is not taken up.
    • Students receiving the funding must submit a closure report to IIE covering the following
      • Summary learning from the market visit
      • Possible opportunities in that market
      • Idea starters or interest areas that the student wants to pursue as an outcome from the visit if any.
  • Students enrolling for the course will be required to pay a deposit of approximately S$1000 for the cost of boarding, lodging and the airfare differential on week 3. We will not have a TA to reduce cost. Students must help organise the trip.
  • Singaporean, you may use your PSEA funds. Singaporean or PR, please register at MFA
  • Students are required to contribute to a petty cash fund ($300) for expenses such as memento for each company, interpreter, hosting guest, tips for guide/driver, welfare, t-shirt, banner and miscellaneous cost.
