This learning journey has truly been enriching and rewarding. While it is good to be able to understand all the knowledge, the most important learning was to know how to structure and simplify our ideas and insights so that our audience are able to understand.

As I was working mainly on the data, I realized how important it is to ensure data integrity is kept. Video virality are becoming more predominant and the need to combine our marketing analysis and data analysis to formulate a story was new to me. Also, it was like picking which are the most significant stories to add onto our story board. This experience has made me look at video virality phenomenum in a different perspective. Special mention to Professor Seema and Professor Srini for giving us the guidance on areas we can explore, and motivating us to do greater.

The entire project has been a very interesting and enriching experience. There were a lot of hands-on activities and self-learning, which motivated me to work harder for the project and gain a lot of new insights after all.

Even though the whole scope of social analytics came very new to me, I was able to learn and see the power of data in understanding a viral social phenomenon. In Kolaveri Di’s case, the data analysis revealed that there were so many different people (from different backgrounds or user behaviors), events (such as flash mobs or covers), and societal factors involved in the virality of just one video. It was like solving a puzzle game, discovering little pieces of information across the dataset in order to complete the whole picture.

I believe that data analytics is a powerful tool which can indeed give a lot of insights to the people across different industries. I am glad that we are able to successfully conclude this interesting project on a good note, thanks to the opportunity and guidance provided by Professor Seema and Professor Srini.
