The Code of Ethics (COE) serves as the guiding principles for analysts to exercise professionalism and integrity. It is a brief summary that is taken from the Code of Conduct by Data Science Association (http://www.datascienceassn.org). One should also observe the spirit of this guide and not just the letters of it.


  • A data analyst shall provide competent service to the client. This includes a sound knowledge of data analytics and a good showmanship of work throughout the service delivery.
  • A data analyst shall refrain from criminal or fraudulent activities, which includes any form of misleading or inappropriate counsel to the client.
  • A data analyst shall explain scientific results with reasonable simplicity, allowing client to make informed decision without any unwarranted or unnecessary ambiguity.
  • A data analyst shall protect all confidential information, regardless of its form or format, from the time of its creation or receipt until its authorized disposal.
  • A data analyst shall exercise prudence when conflict of interest arises. This includes a conflict of interest between clients (within client’s clients and between clients) and the analyst.
  • A data analyst shall observe professional integrity, where trusted information should not be released or revealed, regardless of the state of relationship between the analyst and the client.
  • A data analyst shall inform the client of all data science results and material facts known to the data analyst that will enable the client to make informed decisions, whether or not the data science evidence are adverse.
