JMP Pro 13

JMP Pro 13 is an interactive software for desktop statistical discovery developed by the JMP division of SAS. As the data files are too large to be opened by conventional means such as Excel and Notepad, we will be using this tool to explore the data. Furthermore, JMP Pro 13 allows us to perform multi-table queries and joins of JMP data tables as well as to build dashboards for greater analysis through data visualisation.

Tableau

Tableau is a business intelligence (BI) tool that can help our group create beautiful and visually-appealing reports, charts, graphs and dashboards using the data. These reports are interactive and can easily be shared with anyone.

This data visualization software is also extremely fast and easy to use as it has a drag and drop interface. Due to this efficiency, we chose Tableau for our preliminary data visualisation to allow us to obtain relevant findings for our sponsor and to provide our sponsor a first look at the potential dashboard.

R Shiny

All the data visualisation elements will be created using R and R Shiny.

We have chosen Shiny R mainly due to the statistical functions provided by R, which would be useful to our project. R also have many ready-made visualizations which would hopefully save us some time required for coding. It also handles large data efficiently and the elements encoded update automatically based on changes in the data, providing a visualisation that is visually pleasing and understandable
