Situation
For an ecommerce website, they’ve tremendous of data from sales log, source traffic, etc. It’s a challenging task for digital marketer to make decision quickly based on the information in hand. The data was stored in various storage such as Google Analytics and SQL databases. To combine and visualize them is a manual work that requires lot of time and efforts. Creating this visualization dashboard would help a digital marketer to be able to see and explore their marketing campaign effectively.
Objectives
- To create an interactive visualization that allows user to navigate the content easily.
- Overall view of the different performance of each promotion campaign and channels.
- Using different types of visualizations such as bar charts, time-series and tree maps.
Data Source
An online e-commerce website (SQL databases and Google Analytics)
Visualization functions
- Dashboard using Tableau / R-Shiny
- Time-series Visualization & Filtering
- Filtering by Channel
- Filtering by Month
Challenges
1. How to acquire data - most of the e-commerce data are confidential
2. Different format of UTM parameters in each website and each channel make it harder to do the setting
