Why TSM South Korea?

• What motivates you to join TSM?
  

Entrepreneurship has always been a career path that I want to pursue! Even though it will be a tough route, I believe that I can make a difference, no matter how small, through my ideas. In this day and age of digitalization, it is a given that every business interacts with technology, even if it is not a tech-based company. Hence, it is even more important to understand Technopreneurship and the opportunities it presents. This is even more so in South Korea, the country known for its zero load time due to its extremely high speed Internet! I also like the Korean culture, and this in combination with my interest in Technopreneurship makes it a study mission that I really want to join and learn from.

• Why pick South Korea?

With its super high speed internet speed, many Koreans have superb technology skills! This, coupled with their innovativeness makes it one of the Asian countries that have outdone itself in terms of technological companies, such as Samsung. I also love the Korean culture and food so it will be interesting to get to take a look at their companies and get tours, which is something I can never achieve as just a tourist.

Starting a Business

• What types of businesses interest you?

I am interested in fashion and baking, or F&B and I want to see how I can incorporate technology into these typical entrepreneurial businesses. I am also interested in creating applications that can make a difference in the world through simple ideas, such as UBER.

• What plans do you have in starting a business?

My friend and I recently had an idea for an app but we are still in the midst of discussing the idea and looking at ways in which we can implement it. I'm not sure if this will become a real, feasible business but I have always wanted to start a business. This is especially so as my family has a business and I am interested in looking at ways to merge my entrepreneurship journey with my family business.

Past Experiences

The boldest and most entrepreneurial move was when I was 14! I was in Bangkok and saw many affordable wholesale clothes and items that I thought would be interesting to bring back and sell. The blogshop scene was also very popular at that time, so I thought I would take a shot at it. I brought back some stocks and managed to sell them all online and at flea markets. I also majored in entrepreneurship and participated in planning a bazaar when I was in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Currently, I'm a member in both Real Business and Eagles in SMU and frequently attend entrepreneurial talks and workshops to enhance my knowledge of entrepreneurship!

Constantly striving to become better than who I was yesterday!
