Why Virtual TSM?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

I'm interested in looking at different approaches to software development. As an an aspiring software engineer, I believe in learning as much as possible about cultures, approaches, mindsets and society in addition to what is available in Singapore, as software is not built in a vaccum, or alone. And Virtual TSM, at the heart of Silicon Valley, where startup companies and long established companies are, I believe that there lies an incredibly invaluable opportunity to meet and gain more perspectives towards software development, much more than what I know now.

  • Where would you like to visit?

Silicon Valley: Google, Oracle

Starting a business

  • What types of business interest you?

I am interested in businesses which speed up workflow, generate accessibility. With an influx of applications being made everyday, not every application has its uses. Hence I believe in improving on existing infrastucture: making it more accessible, or creating applications which make access to these services more convenient, like Github Desktop as a GUI for budding programmers instead of diving into command-line Git immediately. Accessibility is incredibly important in maintaining interest, so applications like Carousell which effectively integrate across different platforms are quite interesting, compared to others which may feel jarring across platforms.

  • What plans do you have in starting a business?

I would start a business which similarly aligns with my interest above, one that could offer third-party vendor services to companies not technologically inclined, or in that sector, alongside smaller companies.
