Why TSM?
- What motivates you to join TSM?
I was fortunate enough to have experience in social entrepreneurship during polytechnic – where I joined 20 other students in a 3-month interschool competition (JA Company Program). Our social enterprise created useful products using discarded materials. The production of these easy-to-make products were taught to the elderlies of charitable homes, sold by us and subsequently donated to the respective homes. On top of that, our team leveraged on technology to create simple web sites as well as mobile apps to broaden our reach and improve business value. This social enterprise was awarded the best company of the year 2015 in the Junior Achievement competition.
Indubitably, this experience has opened my eyes into entrepreneurship, and my technical skills achieved in SMU allowed me to delved into the world of technopreneurship. I enjoy the carefree nature of technopreneurship – the possibilities are endless. We can be as creative and innovative with our technological solutions as we want to be, and the results are the most rewarding. Furthermore, I enjoy the flexibility and control an entrepreneur has – I get to choose my own working hours and hire the perfect team.
I believe TSM will be the perfect opportunity for me to upskill and be well-equipped as a successful technopreneur.
- Where do you NOT want to travel for TSM?
Personally, I am open to all countries as each has its own unique valuable experience. But nonetheless, I think the trip will be fruitful and enjoyable at a country that has lesser COVID-19 cases.
Starting a business
- What types of business interest you?
Business solutions that directly help the public lives easier are of great interest to me. Furthermore, I think cloud solutions is also another alley of interest.
- What plan do you have in starting a business?
Starting a business is definitely a tough route but it is also one with endless benefits if done right. While I do not have any plans to start my own business anytime soon, I am interested to learn as much as possible about technopreneurship and thereafter decide if I am going to start my own business (if I come up with an interesting business idea).
