Why TSM Silicon Valley

What motivates me to join this study mission?

• I have interned at two startups so far, one being an fintech and the other being an online travel and advertising portal. The idea of being able to build an idea up from almost-nothing appeals to me and I think entrepreneurship has a lot of power to change everything about the world we live it – and I want to learn more!
  
• I plan to start my own business in the future relating to technoreneurship
  
• Visiting the companies in Silicon Valley would be even more meaningful because my peers and I get to learn from the best. I also hope that it doesn’t stop there and I am able to come back to Singapore and apply what I learn to either school or wherever it is I end up working or perhaps even something new I can create (like a new business)
  

Why pick Silicon Valley?

• All the mega tech firms and startups with really mindblowing technology all cramped into one area! I am more than excited to visit some these startups that are potentially large businesses in the future to come and get a first hand experience at all the technology they breathe on a daily basis.
  
• The opportunity to meet investors, developers, product designers and to be able to get some advice from their experience.
  

Ideal role in the trip: Itinerary planning, booking of accommodation/flights and other logistics, content creation in terms of ideas/questions we would like to bring up while there, presenting at Silicon Valley itself about us, plan pre-trip learning for my peers and I to prep for the trip

Internship: I would be more than happy to accept internship opportunities!

Starting a Business

What types of business interest you?

What plan do you have in starting a business?

• I started my first mini business recently and am currently still trying to improve it, with advice.
  
• I have plans to start another business in the health and fitness sector with my business partner, we have identified the product, made amendments to it, sourced for multiple suppliers. It is still a work in progress.
  

Past Experiences

Entrepreneurship-wise

• Went to Manila to do research on Sustainable Entrepreneurship.
  
• Experience in doing Research. (Did a research commissioned by the EU)
  
• Joined SMU Eagles Inc. (Entrepreneurship Club) last year and it enabled me to have lots of entrepreneurship and startups exposure. I was given the opportunity to interact with many successful entrepreneurs in Singapore like Ms Elim Chew and many more.
• Attended the Lee Kwan Yee Global Business Plan Competition 2017, one of my friends was a participant, he's product was a bionic arm.

Tech-wise

• In the past I created a game app, however as I have limited knowledge on the programming front, it was incomplete. I would love to learn through a proper medium that is why I intend to take up Information Systems as my second major. It is a very practical skill to acquire.
  
• As I worked at KK Hospital's Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Intervention, I was exposed to radiology-related technology and was introduced to new machines at every quarter when I took a gap year. (MRI, CT, Ultrasound, X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, Nuclear Med)

Itinerary Planning-wise

• Events I planned: National Day Parade & Celebrations in School, Racial Harmony Day, Batam OCSP etc.
  
• I planned all my travel itineraries, and even made brochures out of them!
  

What keeps you ticking?

• Travel: I have not been to the USA! Hence this would be an excellent opportunity!

• TV Series: Game of Thrones, Narcos, Defenders, Arrow etc.
