What motivates you to join TSM?
According to the latest Global Innovation Index report, South Korea is ranked among the top 15 most innovative country in the world and is the leader in the area of information & communication technologies and patent applications. Without much natural resources, South Korea focuses on innovations to compete with other countries.
The startup ecosystem in South Korea is undergoing a change in cultural mindset. Young adults are becoming more interested to the idea of starting their own businesses instead of joining big Korean conglomerates such as Samsung or LG. In 2015, the third most startup funding (US$1.7 billion) in Asia is awarded to a South Korean startup.
The word “startup” has transformed from a foreign concept to more than a catchy buzzword as indie apps become part of Seoulites’ everyday lives. Tim was pleasantly surprised by entrepreneurs’ sincerity and authenticity in building new companies. “It’s rare to see that kind of genuine entrepreneurial build in Silicon Valley because there is so much noise and hype in doing or being part of a startup,” he says.
