Why Virtual TSM?
- What motivates you to join TSM?
I would like to join this programme as I am interested to explore the Silicon Valley. The Silicon Valley is known to be the global technology hub, and hence it would be interesting to see the internal workings of some of the big tech corporations there. As someone who is aiming to become a software engineer after graduation, gaining such exposure would greatly enlighten me about the industry, and the insights gained would enhance my journey in becoming a software engineer. Moreover, the Silicon Valley is also known to be home to many talented and experienced individuals, and it would be interesting to be able to mingle and network with them.
- Where would you like to visit?
Silicon Valley: Google, Apple, Meta
I would like to visit the big tech companies there. Generally, these tech companies engages in projects that are of big impact and scale. Some of which are unique to only the Silicon Valley.
Starting a business
- What types of business interest you?
I am interested in the big tech firms, as well as start ups which are looking to scale. The big tech firms have the capacity and resources to engage in some of the most challenging and interesting projects, and I would like to be a part of such an experience. On the other hand, working in a scaling start up would enable me to have more autonomy and impact in the work that I do, thereby achieving more personal fulfilment.
Starting a business
- What plans do you have in starting a business?
As of now, I do not have any plans in starting a business. However, given an inspiring and impactful idea, I am open to start a business. Regardless, after my summer internship at a financial start up, I am able to appreciate the working culture of a start up, and can foresee myself actively contributing to a start up as a software engineer or product manager.
