At Microsoft Silicon Valley Research Lab, they aim to strengthen the architecture and technology of Microsoft’s products while researching in areas of distributed computing, privacy & security, large-scale systems. Microsoft’s BizSpark Program is a global program that constantly helps software start-ups get their ideas ‘off the runway’ through its development tools and community organisations.

We contacted Microsoft Visitor Centre initially to propose a visit to their company for both a tour and a sharing session. The request was forwarded to their Events Coordinator, Kim Dault, who will be responsible for our visit on the 12 of December. Kim is now working with her team to prepare a proposal which will be sent to us for a review on a later date.

Stanford offers the kind of education needed for leadership in a rapidly changing world. Its seven schools offer a breadth of highly regarded degree programs that allow students the freedom to explore their intellectual and personal passion. It actively encourages the growth of entrepreneurs through its Stanford Entrepreneurship Network SEN which consists of organisations that are run by both students and faculty members. SEN serves as a portal to entrepreneurship at Stanford and as a forum for communication and collaboration.
“Die Luft der Freiheit weh." - “The wind of freedom blows.”
Greatly reflects Stanford's culture of encouraging and nourishing the entrepreneurial spirit in its students.
7 Schools of Stanford
1) Full Moon on the Quad
- Freshmen are kissed at midnight by seniors under the first full moon of the Autumn Quarter.
2)Fountain Hopping
- Popular tradition where students run from fountain to fountain, submerging oneself into the refreshing water and splashing around.
3)Platinum-level "Bicycle Friendly University."
- 13,000 bikes on campus daily! Most popular form of on-campus transportation.
4)Famous Alumni
- Includes Carly Fiorina '76 (CEO of Hewlett-Packard), Phil Knight '61 (Founder of Nike), and Ried Hoffman '90 (co-founder and Executive Chairman of LinkedIn) etc
- How are they different from the other universities
- Possible to sit-in on classes if there are classes
We initially contacted both the School of Engineering and Stanford Entrepreneurship Network for any available programs to host our visit. Due to student breaks, they unfortunately do not have anyone available to host us. Guided campus tours end on the 5th of December so we will be embarking on an adventure on our own.
We will be using either their Guided Maps or download their Visit-Stanford App.
