Businesses have been digitalising faster than ever with the arrival of Covid-19 which creates an interesting paradigm shift. Things that were once impossible is getting more and more possible or required with the arrival of Covid-19. Virtual classroom, virtual workplace, work from home. All of these shift creates new and interesting challenges which allow for innovation and technopreneurship is leading the way. Entrepreneurship is generally opportunistic in nature and this is an interesting space to explore.

Why Virtual TSM?

What motivates you to join Virtual TSM?

I was reading the course attributes and saw Digitalisation & Cloud Solutions and within a moment of reflection, I realised how the theme of the study mission is very relevant to the post-COVID-19 paradigm shift. Companies are digitalising faster than ever and exploring a newer and better way to work which creates many problems and also opportunities for technopreneurship.

Following with the theme of this TSM being Virtual we are bound to face many challenges, planning a normal visit is already difficult more so than ever with virtual visits. Going forward with the motion, one is bound to learn and reflect on the challenges we will face which is essential for the post-COVID-19 world.

Where would you like to visit virtually?

Since the theme of this Virtual TSM is Asia, 3 Asia countries come to my mind, Japan, China/Hong Kong and Indonesia. Japan and China being the dominant economical forces in Asia and Indonesia being a country with huge potential economical growth in years to come.

Japan exists in a very unique position in the geopolitical space. With the blend of eastern traditions and western industrial might. Japan is still a Japanese speaking society with Japanese used as their business language, unlike other countries in Asian where the business language is English. Japan went from a post-war socio-cultural environment to an industrial engine with the 3rd largest GDP.

Indonesia is more or less in the same situation with their own tongue and using their own language but with twice the population but only one-fifth of Japan GDP.

Since we are going all virtual we are not bound to a single destination and we can use this opportunity to draw parallels between countries at different economical growth and learn how we can apply them from Singapore as a hub location for SEA.

Starting a Business?

At this stage of my life, I am still considering whether to drive into an early-stage startup or start another business. There are several advantages in an early-stage startup; you get the thrill of a startup, but none of the attached stress (fundraising, hiring, lack of a life). If I were to start a business, Productivity Apps is something that I have been eyeing for a few years; I see a possible vacuum of innovation in this space.

Post Covid-19 Paradigm Shift

Businesses have been digitalising faster than ever with the arrival of Covid-19 which creates an interesting paradigm shift. Things that were once impossible is getting more and more possible or required with the arrival of Covid-19. Virtual classroom, virtual workplace, work from home. All of these shift creates new and interesting challenges which allow for innovation and technopreneurship is leading the way. Entrepreneurship is generally opportunistic in nature and this is an interesting space to explore.

What keeps me ticking?

If I were to summarise my philosophy to life and work, these ideas or quotes does best at describing it.

  • If a normal life is not worth observing. Was the normal life worth experiencing?
  • Your best work is an hour away, and your worst work was a month ago.
  • What you are saying and planning to do are just simply words coming out of your mouth. Results can only be seen after you do it, and some results will only materialize years later.
