Why Virtual TSM?

What motivates you to join TSM?

  • Excited about the opportunity provided by virtual TSM to interact and learn more about foreign start-ups and happy to work with other students to resolve a problem statement!
  • While learning IDP, I realised I enjoy the process of empathising with users, ideating, prototyping and testing. I think it’s relevant to technopreneurship to a certain extent and I find it fascinating when people can identify a problem and turn it into an opportunity by creating a start-up with their idea or solution
  • Would love to find out more about how start-ups plan, develop and scale up their business with the use of technology and how their business model allows them to stay ahead of their competitors or even monopolise the market.

Where would you like to visit virtually?

  • Silicon Valley: literally a tech heaven with amazing companies like Apple, Google, Facebook, Netflix
  • London: known for their fintech unicorns (Revolut, TransferWise) and edtech firms (A Cloud Guru, Coursera)
  • Sydney: Would like to visit Canva, interesting story about how their firm started

Starting a business

What types of business interest you?

  • EdTech : Always believed that education and learning resources should be accessible by everyone globally. Admire EdTech firms that develop avenues to enhance the learning experience and increase resources for online users (Udemy, Coursera, Atom Learning, Datacamp). Since we’re now facing a global pandemic, it’s also interesting to see the surge of EdTech start-ups developing solutions to better facilitate online teaching and learning.
  • FinTech : Fintech businesses have evolved tremendously to provide greater convenience for the everyday man by creating the cashless revolution. Amazed by how fintech start-ups constantly look for new ways for customers to grow their wealth, manage their finances, enhance security during online transactions and excited for what's to come for these businesses

What plan do you have in starting a business? (list existing business)

  • Have a classroom management extension for zoom to enhance class participation and ease the process of recording down class participation scores.

Past Experiences (optional)

CCA

  • SMU ExploreSIS, Director of External Relations
  • SMU Ellipsis, Welfare Executive

Others

  • Smartcademy UX Course
  • Smartcademy React Native Course

What keeps you ticking?

  • You can’t be future proof but you can be future-ready!
  • Hence, I like to stay hungry (not literally) for knowledge or new experiences and take on whatever challenges that come my way!
  • Rather try, fail and learn than to do nothing and have regrets
