Why TSM Silicon Valley
What motivates me to join this study mission?
- Firstly, its Silicon Valley, it can't get any better than this!
- Secondly, I am very passionate about entrepreneurship! I joined Eagles Inc, an entrepreneurship club in SMU since 2016 as it is my passion to have my own businesses in the future and also to interact with other potential business owners and network. Also, I recently started my own business in the design industry, its small, its just making cards and selling them in bulk but I do have future plans for this business by adding the tech aspect in it.
- Thirdly, the Learning aspect of this study mission is the main reason for my motivation. By being able to engage on a personal level with startup companies in Silicon Valley is an absolutely prestigious opportunity. The insights that I will gain are priceless. I will definitely gain new knowledge from this study mission and hopefully I will be able to apply what I have learnt on this trip.
Why pick Silicon Valley?
- All the mega tech firms and startups with really mindblowing technology all cramped into one area! I am more than excited to visit some these startups that are potentially large businesses in the future to come and get a first hand experience at all the technology they breathe on a daily basis.
- The opportunity to meet investors, developers, product designers and to be able to get some advice from their experience.
- Ideal role in the trip: Itinerary Planner!
Starting a Business
What types of business interest you?
- eCommerce
- Health & Fitness
- Design and Manufacturing
What plan do you have in starting a business?
- I started my first mini business recently and am currently still trying to improve it, with advice.
- I have plans to start another business in the health and fitness sector with my business partner, we have identified the product, made amendments to it, sourced for multiple suppliers. It is still a work in progress.
Past Experiences
- In the past I tried to create a game app but it did not come to past as I have limited knowledge on the programming front and would love to learn through a proper medium that is why I intend to take up Information Systems as my second major. It is a very practical skill to acquire.
- I joined a Robotics CCA many years ago as I found it interesting.
