Why TSM South Korea?

What motivates you to join TSM?

This is an excellent opportunity to explore different businesses out of Singapore and this is especially so as it is related to the technological field which is unlike the others offered in SMU. I feel that it is important for me to be exposed to the different cultures due to the business cultures nowadays which often requires us to interact and collaborate with foreign partners. It is also interesting for me to learn about the startup culture in Korea and I hope that I will be able to learn from them and hopefully start a career.

Why South Korea?

think Korea presents a lot of future opportunities for the tech sector. Looking at the different Korean brands growing and their increasing adoption rates such as Samsung and Kia, Korea and several articles have mentioned that Korea will be the next Tech City.

Other than that, it is also a country that I haven't visited before and I would love to experience that.

Starting a business

What types of businesses interest you?

  • F&B
  • Platform as a Service

What plans do you have in starting a business?

With new F&B delivery ventures gaining more popularity in Singapore, I feel there is a lot of room for growth. I hope that I will be able to create an develop an platform which allows F&B business to have an additional means of conducting their business online. I currently have a food blog (https://www.facebook.com/FourFarmers/) with my friends and we have been connecting with different F&B business to find out how they run their businesses and how to help them expand their businesses.

Past Experience

After learning SE in year 2, I have helped my church developed a simple IT system which helps to collate the different information from different parties. I have also helped my father set up an E-commerce website via BigCommerce and Shopify over the last 3 years and did several customisation and integration to make the platform more suited for his business.

At the end of year 2, I have also did an internship with ReadySpace Singapore which offers web hosting services. During my time in ReadySpace, I developed an integration between their platform, Odin Automation and a new server provisioning software, NOC-PS which allows ReadySpace to automate the provisioning of bare metal servers.

What keeps you ticking?

Change is the only constant and I want to keep changing and improving to make myself a better person.
