I interned as a web developer in a startup called DotCom Enterprise. For my internship, I was given a project by an external client and my boss gave us a lot of opportunity to interact with the client letting us explain our own work during the client meetings, as well as clarify things with the client while needed. Of course, he came in to save us whenever we need it!

The interesting about working in a startup is that I get a lot of freedom. We will have a weekly check-in session with the boss where he will look through our work, and help us when we are facing problems, but other than that, we are basically allowed the freedom to work in whatever way we want as long as we adhere to the functional requirements given to us by the client.

The whole experience feels more like a learning process where I get to learn a bit of everything and it provides me with a better idea of what I will want to do in the future.

Why TSM South Korea?

  • What motivates you to join TSM?

Having worked in a corporate environment in the my last few contract stints, I have been exposed much of the culture and the technology that kind of environment requires. However, I have always been drawn to starting up a business of my own and I understand that the kind of skills, technology and the thinking process required by start ups are entirely different. I am joining TSM because I want to use all the experience i have learnt working in banks and to be able to apply them in an entrepreneurship environment and hopefully pick up enough skills (and courage) to start up my own business.

  • Why pick South Korea?

South Korea houses many of the world leaders in technology. I want to be able to experience and hopefully understand what makes such a country so different in that it can cultivate such cutting edge technology. There must be something that South Korea has that Singapore does not that could enable a company to into a multinational organization. Is it the education? or the government? Or is it really just the culture? I would like to experience first hand how South Korea enables this. South Korea's culture has also always intrigued me. Staying in an international hostel, I live and work with South Koreans and I always enjoy learning from them.

Internship Opportunities

  • What types of internship opportunities interest you?

I am interested in opportunities that can allow me to explore different technologies or to combine many different technologies into an effective working product that people would want to use. Now in the age of social media, I feel that it's full potential have not been comprehended, let alone exploited and I am also interested in internships that allow me to explore how social media technology can be used to connect people to people or people to software.

Past Experiences

  • Describe your past experience (entrepreneurship, or works in start ups etc)

Coming from mostly a corporate background, I have minimal experience working in start ups. But that is why I am so excited to be able to work or be part of one and be able to hopefully use the experience I learnt working in a corporate environment in an entrepreneurship environment. Working in Banks have really
