Why TSM New York City?
- What motivates you to join TSM?
The experience I had from TSM Shenzhen + HK earlier this year was fulfilling. It was insightful to hear the entrepreneurs share about their experiences. It brought a new perspective to me and has motivated me to start venturing while preparing for life after graduation. Following a great study mission, I would like to continue meeting like-minded people and exchange ideas so that we can all grow into better entrepreneurs.
- Why pick New York City?
Many tech giants came from the US, and I believe that going to its origin will open up new ideas and thoughts for me. Having seen many success stories from tech companies, going to NYC will surely be a great opportunity to understand what shapes these companies into who they are today. One thing I would like to takeaway is to understand the kind of attitude and behaviors the entrepreneurs possess that makes them so driven and successful.
Starting a business
- What types of business interest you?
Web & mobile applications. Mostly tech related businesses as the cost for entry is low.
- What plan do you have in starting a business?
In progress: Setting up a tech education service targeted at post-sec students. Aiming to launch in late Jan. In progress: Setting up a central tutor agency platform with partners from the education industry.
My previous ventures:
aWear is a social entrepreneurship startup created back in 2012 by my group of friends and I in Temasek Polytechnic as part of the Junior Acheivement Company of the Year program.
aWear aims to establish awareness of our causes, and inspire actions in anybody that desires to create a better society.
We collaborated with SPCA Singapore to spread awareness about love for animals.
We have since liquidated the company and donated part of our profits to SPCA.
