Why TSM South Korea?
* What motivates you to join TSM?
Honestly, I have heard from seniors from the previous batch who went and recommended me to take on this experience. They mentioned that it was the most fulfilling and enriching experience during their time in SMU as they get to meet businesses who are technologically driven. More importantly, I want to be able to go through this experience and ultimately growing more as an individual.
* Why pick South Korea?
I personally like the culture in South Korea! From its rich heritage to its wide variety of food. Moreover, I have only been to South Korea for leisure trips, as such, I would love to experience the business culture to broaden my knowledge as well as to gain global exposure.
Starting a business
* What types of business interest you?
I’m interested in creating an application that will eventually benefit the accounting industry as my interest lies within the accounting sector. (something along the lines of Accounting IS). On a side note, I’m also keen on looking towards the F&B industry as I really love baking! My friends often joke that they would patronize my shop if I were to open one, but who knows one day that might actually happen.
* What plan do you have in starting a business?
If I were given to choice to start a business, I would probably look towards opening a café or a bakery. Baking has always been a passion of mine as I love experimenting different recipes. Though certain recipes would require as much as 5hours of preparation and baking, but ultimately I know that it will all be worth it. The satisfaction and recognition received from baking are the primary reason that keeps me going.
What keeps you ticking?
Perhaps the idea of improving the lives of others. The first reference would be to help those in needs, an in the case of my overseas CSP to Vietnam, I was really glad I was able to educate the kids in the small city of Hue. The second reference would be the joy of baking, as there would be days that I wake up telling myself that perhaps I should bake something for friends or families to make their day a tad bit better.
