These writings will then allow them to document their experiences and thoughts during their hospital stay and these are important artifacts to ensure that clinical care adopts a humanistic approach. This patient journaling app will be adjunct to our Medical Humanities website. The app will house textual prompts to allow patient to stimulate their creative thinking and writing. Medical Humanities (MH) is an interdisciplinary field of medicine which includes the humanities, social sciences, arts and their application to medical education and clinical practice. It has profound impact on the professional identities of the clinicians and patient care. One of the modalities in order to apply MH principles into the clinical setting involves patient journaling, as this provides an avenue for patients to express themselves through writing. These writings will then allow them to document their experiences and thoughts during their hospital stay and these are important artifacts to ensure that clinical care adopts a humanistic approach. This patient journaling app will be adjunct to our Medical Humanities website. The app will house textual prompts to allow patient to stimulate their creative thinking and writing. At the end of the hospital stay, patients can opt to compile and send their digital journals into their person email; At the same time, the MH team can collect these inputs, analyse and shortlist cases for medical teaching to doctors and students.

Instructions on sponsor engagement

The information has been updated in March 2023. As many teams may be approaching sponsors, sponsors will discuss with the various teams and decide which team to work with. If your team has already confirmed a project with a sponsor, please let the faculty manager know so that we can update the website for other students.

For self sourced sponsors

Teams are encouraged to source sponsors from internships, SMU-X modules and personal contacts. The deck here can be shared with the sponsors to clarify any roles and responsibilities with them and request them to contact the faculty manager at kiruthikar@smu.edu.sg for any clarifications File:Sponsor information deck.pptx
