=== Introduction ===
Singapore Silver Pages (SSP) is a one-stop resource on Community Care. It was launched in 2011 by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), with the goal to empower both seniors and caregivers in making informed care decisions. SSP is the first portal to integrate social care, healthcare, community mental health, and caregiving resources under one roof for seniors and caregivers.

SSP hopes to optimise their Medical Escort and Transport Services (MET). The MET is targeted towards homebound clients who are unable to travel to medical appointments/treatments independently, and have no suitable caregiver to take them to medical appointments/treatments.

The MET is currently faces a manpower constraint, as 1 nurse has to accompany the client for the medical appointment/treatment. While the nurse may handle multiple clients at a hospital, it is dependent on the client’s medical appointment/treatment schedule. As such, SSP hopes to earn healthy surpluses while satisfying the client’s needs, possibly through manpower allocation.

The Medical Escort and Transport Services (MET) by a charity organisation in Singapore, provides escort and/or transport to enable PNCs to remain in the community as long as possible. Services are provided to ferry the PNCs to their medical appointments at the respective clinics. Despite government subsidies provided, the MET remains financially unsustainable. Thus, we will identify areas of inefficiencies to reduce cost, without compromising on the quality of service provided. Although the client is a charity organisation, the team will tackle this problem from a business perspective, generating insights for our client to make more informed choices.

Introduction

The Medical Escort and Transport Services (MET) by a charity organisation in Singapore, provides escort and/or transport to enable PNCs to remain in the community as long as possible. Services are provided to ferry the PNCs to their medical appointments at the respective clinics. Despite government subsidies provided, the MET remains financially unsustainable. Thus, we will identify areas of inefficiencies to reduce cost, without compromising on the quality of service provided. Although the client is a charity organisation, the team will tackle this problem from a business perspective, generating insights for our client to make more informed choices.

Project Motivation

The aging population and rising burden of chronic diseases have transformed the way our healthcare industry is. Care should be brought closer to the patients. The team recognizes the significance of the Medical Escort and Transport Services (MET), which is targeted towards homebound clients who are unable to travel to medical appointments/treatments independently and have no suitable caregiver to take them to medical appointments/treatments. In hopes to make a positive impact on the aging community, our group has a genuine interest to take on this project. Through this project, we hope to put what we have learned into practice and further improve ourselves through the valuable feedbacks and guidance received.

Silver Daisies

Supervised by Prof. Kam Tin Seong, Silver Daisies is an analytic team of 3 takes on the project of optimising Medical Escort and Transport Services.
