A diverging chart is used to depict the likert scale type of data that deals with the rating of the how important the factor is to the respondents. The 4 main factors groups pertain to the Information Resources provided by the library, the Communication between the library and respondents, the Facilities & Equipment provided by the library and the service delivery of the library. The ratings range from 1 to 7 with 1 being the least important and 7 being most important. In addition to the respondent group filter buttons, a library type filter button is added to provide a personalised view between KGC library and LKS library scaled ratings.

For each respondent group observation, the order of categorised importance factors will be explained based on the diverging chart and each importance factor category, each sub-factor that has the least negative count would be selected for analysis. The green bars represent the percentage proportion of negative ratings, in this case the lower the percentage of negative ratings, the greater the importance of the factor.

Undergraduates Insights

It is notably understood that the important factors have something to do with online resources and wireless capabilities of the SMU libraries. This could imply that undergraduates generally frequent the libraries more so for educational resources rather than borrowing a book for leisure reading. Undergraduates also look up the library website for useful information; this is an area where the library can look into ensuring that the library sites have informational content that concerns students.

Insights Summary

Across all the respondent groups, it is evident that the most crucial factors pertained to the facility and equipment management of the SMU libraries. Specifically, the factor of the availability of attaining wireless access while being at the library; the reason behind the high importance could be the latency rate whenever the internet is accessed for work. There are always many library goers throughout the day, and this could affect the wireless connectivity speed which could be a hindrance, the library could pay extra attention to this factor to improve library spaces.
