Over the years, the tourism sector has been an essential part of Singapore’s growth, contributing around 4 percent of the gross domestic product. Under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) currently oversees and promotes Singapore as a vibrant and popular tourism destination through quarterly reviews and xxx. With this in mind, STB aims to enhance the tourism experience of international visitors and maximise the economic contribution in the long term.
“Visitor arrivals increased by 6.2 per cent to 17.4 million, with 13 of the top 15 markets showing growth.” Singapore Tourism Board, 2017.
Our main motivation in this research is to address the lack of a convenient and comprehensive platform to study the correlations and trends amidst Singapore’s rapidly growing and developing tourism industry. Currently, STB provides market reports and basic charts to analyse large amounts of complex data through the website and annual reports. To further identify areas that need attention, clarify patterns and predict the future of the tourism industry, we believe it is highly important to provide an interactive visual platform.
