How did the virus gets transmitted?
As identified earlier that Smogtown Explosion and Truck Accident on 610 between Plainville and Westside are the two main events that causes this epidemic spread.
Let’s dive deep into the details of the event to uncovers how the virus gets transmitted before the outbreak.
Respiratory Viral Outbreak | Air Borne + Human Transmission
Smogtown Explosion Loud Explosion, Huge Smoke, Fire Outbreak. Lasted for 9 hours from 11:00 AM to 08:00 PM
As seen from earlier hyothesis related to Smogtown Explosion, it is highly possible that the respiratory symptoms are caused by the huge smoke emitted from the explosion and burning of unkown substances through the air which lasted for 9 hours. This is made possible with the help of the wind which is blowing from the west at a relatively high speed of 9 miles per hour from 17-19 May, which could have brought the harmful smoke particles from Smogtown over to Downtown and Uptown area.
With a high population density in Downtown and Uptown zone, especially during the day where people commute to town for work and recreational activities, it is highly possible that people in Downtown and Uptown could have affected by the harmful smoke particle and got sick firsthand. The above diagram shows the no most number of reported cases surfaces on 18th May in Downtown and Uptown before it spreads over to Eastville and Lakeside on 19th May and eventually more reported case from the hospital where infected people started to seek treatment from at the hospital within each zone.
The possibility that could cause the whole city to get infected even though the wind direction only blows towards the eastern side is that, when the infected commute back to their hometown from downtown or uptown area at night, the respiratory virus could then be easily spread through human interaction to others back at home.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the respiratory viral outbreak was initially spread towards Downtown and Uptown through the air transmission with the aid of the wind blowing from western direction before a human transmission which further cause it to spread across the whole Vastopolis City.
Gastrointestinal Viral Outbreak | Water Borne Transmission
Truck Accident: Truck Topple, Truck Cashed, Fire Break Out, Spills from Truck Storage, Lasted for 11 hours from 09:00 AM to 08:00 PM
As seen from the above messages related to Truck Accident on Highyway 610, not only was it a terrible accident that cause a fire to break out, the most disastrous problem is the spilling of cargo from the truck when it topple. To make thing worst, the highway is located above the Vast River, giving it the possibility that the spillage could have ended up in the river contaminating the water that flows southwards through the city at a steady rate of three miles per hour. From the point of accident, the contaminated water will flow through Westside, Plainville and Smogtown area.
As Vast river serves as an area for the water-based sports and recreation activities in the city, resident that lives near the riverbank along Westside, Plainville, Smugtown and Villa could have come in contact with the contaminated water after the Truck accident on 17 May. One day later, on 18 May, gastrointestinal related cases started to surface and eventually the outbreak on 19 May.
Therefore, can be concluded that the gastrointestinal viral outbreak was cause by water borne transmission where resident residing or working along the Vast River bank must have come in contact with the river water have got themselves infected by the gastrointestinal related virus. Furthermore, as gastrointestinal virus are less prone to human transmission it is therefore very well contained only within the 4 zone highlighted above.
